Divatte-sur-Loire, since 2016, is the result of the regrouping of the villages of La Chapelle-Basse-Mer and Barbechat. Its history is marked by the Vendée wars - with the massacre of 26 of its inhabitants in 1794 - and by the meeting of its leaders with Auguste de La Rochejaquelein in 1815, in the hope of raising the campaigns against Napoleon I. Castles and manors evoke a rich past. The Divatte levee, built to protect the land from the floods of the Loire, has encouraged the development of market gardening and the cultivation of lily of the valley, which makes it the valley of early fruits and flowers. This commune on the banks of the Loire also lives from wine growing
