Black mountain. From one of the most pristine valleys of the Black mountain, between Revel and Sorèze, Durfort maintains - with its increasing houses and streams that still run in the middle of the streets - its medieval memory. These isolated sites drew in the Hundred Years War of British companies that pillaient the region. It is in the conversion of these drivers, once their campaigns have finished, that the birth of the dinandière tradition in Durfort is attributed. The dinanderie then designated the manufacture of culinary objects made of brass - yellow copper - cauldrons, stoves, dishes, etc. - and, by extension, works of battu copper, a specialty in which the craftsmen of Dinan had distinguished themselves. The work of red copper, for him, is called boiler. The martineur sank copper patties, so-called shades. When the latter were stretched to martinet and warmed on several occasions, they were amincissaient to become black cuts in which the boilermaker made a single jar and cauldrons piece. This technique dating back to the th century disappeared with the evolution of the work of copper towards the art dinanderie and the work of laminated copper leaves. The small commune of 300 inhabitants is now one of the last in France to perpetuate the artisan tradition with several important workshops. At present, there are still active chaudronniers. She is also one of the very few to have kept a martinet, a 300-year-old hammer, which was the basic work of the traditional boiler. It was then Domesticated water that was used to operate the martinet, driven by a paddle wheel using the force of the river. As for the streams that can still be seen in the streets, they still serve to clean up copper.
