Ventron would come from Vinteringen, where the marcaires shelter in winter. The village is built around Ventron Creek, a tributary of the Moselotte. Just above the village is also the hermitage of the Brother Joseph, place of grazing in summer, and beautiful ski area in winter. It is an ideal place for the first hesitant slips of small or beginners. In this connection, the practice of surfing is simply forbidden on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and during school holidays. A chapel reminds us that we are here in a place of pilgrimage. It was built by the inhabitants of the village, in memory of Joseph Formet who had chosen in 1751 to sink happy hermit days on the heights of Ventron. At 7 km from there, at the Grand-Ventron, at 1 209 m above sea level, the view extends over the Alsatian valley of Kruth and the Vosges summits. Other panoramas in Haut-de-Felzach (1 161 m) and the four-clochers rocks (1 009 m).
