Situated in the Rabodeau valley, Senones was the former capital of the Principality of Salm from 1751 to 1793, and still bears witness to this prestigious past, as evidenced by its abbey, where you can admire the main staircase and library. The rich history of Senones is closely linked to the de Salm family, first counts in the 12th century, then princes from 1751, when the principality of Salm was founded. The principality's existence was short-lived, however, as it was annexed to France during the French Revolution, and the castles built around it bear witness to its importance. In summer, you can watch the changing of the guard, a costume parade.
