On the outskirts of Luxembourg, Yussoise has occupied a strategic location since ancient times, on the alluvial (right bank) side of the bend in the Moselle, which at this point makes its major turn towards the Rhine. The town is surrounded by several hills: Selvert (207 m), Côte des Roses (or Côte d'Illange, 219 m), Kollom (194 m) and Galienberg. Yutz is an integral part of the Thionville conurbation. The Second World War and the tragedy of annexation left their mark for a long time. The commune of Yutz was not spared by the fighting led by the American3rd Army before being liberated on September 13, 1944.
