Historically, Gouzon is a former enclave of the Bourbonnais. All Creusois people know the town for its cow's milk cheese with a tight texture and a developed taste of terroir. As far as heritage is concerned, its 13th century church has some beautiful features: two beautiful portals, a bell tower made of chestnut shingles... 3 km away, in Les Forges, the Saint-Nicolas chapel is a place not to be missed. Inside, paintings from the 9th century have been unearthed. They are works on sand and lime plaster, among the oldest in France, representing a bird and geometric and floral motifs.
