Although located in the canton of Aspres, we thought it was more judicious to place this large village in the Roussillon part. Pollestres, a dynamic village, is at the gates of Perpignan, the inhabitants are the Pollestrencs. It is home to more than 50 sports and cultural associations for a population of almost 4,700 souls and last year it was given a commercial centre nicknamed "Carpe Diem", a trading area in the style of a brand village.If we have any doubts about the origins of the name Pollestres, it is highly likely that it comes from the Catalan word pollastre, which translates as chicken. Its emblem is the rooster that sits in the middle of the roundabout in the Place de l'Europe in the centre of the village. Pollestres is therefore a small town full of life and resources where it is good to live, far from the image of dormitory suburbs.
