This charming village is often overlooked by tourists. And yet, it has a real authenticity all of its own. The Saturday morning market, for example, is a lively affair, especially in summer. Craftsmen and small producers set up shop in the narrow streets or on the village square. Bessèges is famous for its former mining industry, which has left its mark on the town's landscape. Today, it is enjoying a revival thanks to initiatives by new arrivals and associations, including the huge MIAOU en Cévennes murals, an open-air museum. And in summer, you can cool off in the nearby Cèze river.
