A little history: LAFITTE's long history began in MONTAUT, a picturesque village in the Landes region of southwestern France, nestled in the hills of Chalosse, to which the company is closely linked. Founded in 1920 by Pierre LAFITTE, the company originally sold game (partridges, woodcocks, ortolans, hares, etc.) and Foies Gras. In 1970, Léon LAFITTE and his children joined forces, and the company's business expanded both in France and abroad. Today, LAFITTE distributes its products in France to prestigious restaurateurs, a network of retailers and delicatessens, and has 6 stores (Paris, Bordeaux, Dax, Mont de Marsan, Bayonne and Montaut). Synonymous with excellence and authenticity, LAFITTE also exports its products throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Our foie gras ducks come from an ancient, rustic, slow-growing strain, recognizable by its black and white coloring. An absolute guarantee of quality. Free-range farming LAFITTE works with over 80 farmer-breeders within a 40 km radius of the production unit, enabling us to perpetuate the tradition of old-fashioned farming, within the framework of small-scale, local, sustainable agriculture. In the Landes region, our ducks are raised in the open air on grassy pastures in a natural environment. Our ducks are fed non-GMO plant products (corn and wheat) and fattened traditionally on whole-grain corn in pens (this type of production represents less than 4% of French production). Raised and prepared with the utmost care, our ducks are subject to strict specifications that include the same certified characteristics as Label Rouge. Our foies gras (like all our products) are prepared in small batches by hand by our chefs, in order to respect their nobility and preserve all their gustatory values. Our typical recipes reflect all the tastes and flavors of the LAFITTE family's traditional cuisine.
