La Vieille-Loye is the only commune of the Val d'Amour to be located, not on the edge of the forest of Chaux, but in the wood. More exactly in a clearing. The 18th century church dominates the village. In the past, the village was very active, due to the forestry industry. In addition to the lumberjacks and charcoal burners, whose past is evoked in the huts of the 14th, Vieille-Loye was for a long time home to a glass factory, which seems to date back to the 14th century and continued until 1931. For those who love hiking in the forest, this is an ideal starting point. You can follow paths to the Arc-et-Senans saltworks or to the banks of the Loue river.
