You will find Nans at the foot of a limestone coast. This village is indeed dominated by a high cliff in the shape of a horseshoe, better known under the name of Roche de Nans. It offered a natural protection reinforced by the construction of its castle now disappeared. Its name comes from the Gallic word Nanto, which meant a valley that was often steep. You will be captivated by the site whose stream crosses the town with its small bridges and the 3 singing fountains. Also worth seeing is the Sainte-Maria-Goretti chapel and the winegrowers' houses, which are perfectly identifiable with their small staircases in front of the cellar entrances.
