Located in the Marne valley on the road to Champagne, Vincelles, also known as Vinicella, meaning "wine cellar" is one of the oldest communes in the canton of Dormans. Its origins date back to the 9th century, when the village was part of the Omois, an ancient pagus that grouped together the villages on the left bank of the Marne between Nogent-L'Artaud and Épernay for more than two centuries. Today, the activity of the commune remains mainly viticultural. In the middle of the 20th century, a cooperative was formed, grouping together a hundred or so farmers and 150 hectares of vines, mostly Pinot Meunier.
