Luant is 10 kilometers from Châteauroux. From the A20, take exit 14, then the D20. The commune is in the Brenne nature park, and boasts a beautiful pond: l'étang Duris. It is part of the Châteauroux urban area. It is also in the geographical area where the famous Valençay cheese is produced and matured. The commune's history was marked by a tragic train accident: on December 7, 1918, two trains carrying soldiers returning from leave collided in thick fog on the section between Lothiers and Luant. The accident caused 70 deaths.
