The largest food market in Lyon, along the banks of the Saône, where it is a pleasure to come on Sunday morning. The clientele is happily mixed, from all social classes. For more than 75 years, this covered market has been dedicated to the food trade and crafts of the Bourbonnais and the Auvergne. Fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, bakery... It is the ideal place to discover the local products and to taste local specialities such as potato pâté, pompe aux grattons or Comtesse de Vichy cheese. On Saturday morning, about sixty agricultural producers from the Montagne bourbonnaise, Monts de la Madeleine, Sologne bourbonnaise, Val de Besbre and Bocage bourbonnais settle down on the mezzanine.

The Monday morning calf market is renowned throughout the region. The tradition of markets goes back to 1497, with the authorization given by Charles VIII to Count Jean de Saint-Symphorien to establish a market every Monday and 3 fairs per year (11 June, 29 September, 6 December). Since 1972, this market concerns calves from 8 days to 5 weeks old. The traders present are only allowed to enter the sales area after the whistle at 10am. By 10.15am, the sales are over and the farmers take their calves to the traders' trucks.

Mornant has an important market which dates back beyond the 10th century and is held in the Place de la Liberté every Friday morning. The first Friday of each month was for a long time a fair day for local farmers, particularly for small pigs. But in recent decades this activity has disappeared in favour of a more traditional market. This is an opportunity to fill your basket with fresh produce, fruit and vegetables in season. A small market of local producers and creators is held on Sunday morning.

Shopping in Grenoble's most beautiful square, even during the renovation of the Parlement du Dauphiné, is a real treat. Place Saint-André, also known as "place du trib" (in reference to the former Palais du Justice), offers a magnificent backdrop with the former seat of the Parlement du Dauphiné, its impressive dimensions, its cafés with terraces and its blue granite floor. On this pedestrian-only square, every day except Monday (as elsewhere in Grenoble), there's a farmers' market featuring products from the Isère region, including several organic producers. It's the market of a historic district. Place aux Herbes is an adorable square covered by a small late 19th century hall that welcomes every morning, except on Mondays, retailers of freshly picked fruit, vegetables and flowers. This market, between the working-class district on the Chenoise side and the shopping centre, a pedestrian area, is a little bit at a crossroads. Rive-de-Gier welcomes one of the largest markets, the first of the agglomeration and the second in the department! Concrete walks were removed during the work in 2007. In 2013 were born "Les samedis du terroir" in the historic district of Montferrand. Every first and third Saturday of the month, the Montferrand merchants' association organizes a food market with products from short circuits. About twenty producers are waiting for you between the place de la Fontaine and the rue Jules-Guesde. It's convenient because it's right next to the tramway line, which is free on weekends. In the heart of Grenoble, the Halles Sainte-Claire combines tradition and modernity. You'll find everything you need to concoct tasty dishes: eggs, vegetables, seasonal and exotic fruit, cheese, meat, breads, flowers... An Italian caterer travels from Turin to sell his pasta, ravioli and gnocchi, while an oyster farmer occasionally comes up from the Etang de Thau to sell her shellfish. There are also a few clothing vendors. A growing market, with aisles widened following the 2020 health regulations, and which regularly welcomes new traders.

Every Wednesday morning, the Joyeuse market is one of the most popular in the region for locals and tourists alike. You'll find the usual array of fruit, vegetables, cheeses, breads and other fresh produce, as well as clothes, books, local crafts and souvenirs. Out of season, this market is already a respectable size even in the depths of winter. In July and August, it's at its peak. At this time of year, we recommend parking outside the village and walking to the market.

Between Place Delille and the SNCF train station, under a ^19th century metal hall, protected as a historical monument, a pretty farmers' market is held. It is organized by the association La Jonquille. About thirty producers, farm or organic, sell their products directly every Friday morning: fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meats, delicatessen, cheeses, honeys, pastries, jams, syrups, wines, bread, oils, herbal teas... Lamastre's unmissable Tuesday market brings together a host of producers from all over the region, selling their tasty, authentic local produce, as well as numerous fairground vendors (clothing, hardware, etc.). A market is also held on Saturday mornings. Also not to be missed, at the end of August, is the Marché de la Création, showcasing the region's artisans. The atmosphere is typical of the area, and the arrival of the Mastrou helps to bring to life the great hours of this place where many producers meet.

More than a hundred shopkeepers, craftsmen and producers meet there. It is one of the largest markets in Drôme Ardèche, with fruit and vegetables, cheese, fish, olives, breads... as well as many delicious meats (poultry, beef, veal, lamb, pork from the region) and delicatessen presented by craftsmen from all over the department. A very friendly market where you are spoilt for choice. It's a good place to stroll around and get inspired by the day's menu for your enjoyment.

The Place Saléon Terras comes alive every Wednesday morning. The local producers present the fruits of their labour to the faithful customers who do not miss this essential weekly meeting because it creates links between all. Almost everything is there. In July and August, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5 to 7 pm in the town centre, the seasonal market is the attraction in the village. The times indicated depend on the seasonality and especially on the weather of the moment. There are many other markets in the area on different days.

The weekly market of Bourg-Saint-Andéol is held every Wednesday morning, on the quays of the Rhone, in summer, and on the large square of the Champ-de-Mars, the rest of the year. Green markets" are also held on Saturday mornings at the same locations. These see the local producers of early fruits and vegetables unpack their sunny fruits and vegetables. Although modest in size, the town of Vals-les-Bains remains one of the region's urban centers, and has long been a center of trade for the surrounding rural communities. The markets of Valence take place every day except Sunday (then towards Romans!). The most important one is the one on the Place des Clercs on Saturday morning and all of them already have a Provencal feel. Come early in the morning to feel the pulse of the city. You will find fruits and vegetables from the region, peach platters from the Rhone valley in summer, everything to make your summer ratatouille and jams, olives, cheeses from small producers, honeys and charcuterie. Around the square, several terraces for a coffee or an aperitif, or even lunch.

Do not miss the very colourful Provençal market on Friday morning, which stretches in the lower town to accommodate all the gourmands in the region. In July and August night markets some Wednesday evening. Other market: that of potters, traditionally held on the weekend of Pentecost.
