CURIEUX COFFEE SHOP

Coffee shop and tea room

Just a stone's throw from the bustling Place du Commerce, you suddenly feel a little hungry? The solution: the Curieux Coffee Shop. In this haven of creativity and quality, Auntie Claire runs this friendly little place with the help of Angèle. At the New Café Curieux, you'll find quality homemade products: savory cakes, sweet cakes and delicious desserts (decadent cookies, hazelnut brownies!), pastries, the famous "ptits curieux". The quality is well and truly there with all these greedy vegan and home-made creations. We accompany these good pastries with a gourmet coffee, topped with a spiral of whipped cream, a drizzle of hot chocolate and caramelized hazelnut chips or a mocha that combines the bitterness of coffee and the roundness of chocolate. The hot beverage menu is original and creative: we have the "basics" that cannot be ignored, with the pure espresso, the homemade chai latte or the vanilla or hazelnut caramel latte, the hot chocolate, the viennois... but also the quality teas, the cold drinks, milkshakes and smoothies... The "curious" drinks menu is made up of specialities such as Thor's coat, Dirty chai, Butterfly latte, London's fog, we'll let you discover them! Here you will certainly find your happiness.

Kouign amann in the land of brioche: it was a daring gamble, but it paid off. It has to be said that the Breton specialities served in this café-tea room are truly delicious. This coffee shop is a family business run by Bretons Frédéric and his father Franck, and the pastries are all homemade. The decor is cosy, and you choose your pastry from a large central table, right in front of the open lab. Other specialties include far aux pruneaux (soft and fragrant), gâteau breton, available in 9 recipes, and Jean. No, an apple cake to die for.

CHOC-HOLA

Marion and Ivan have opened this pretty little store designed for cocoa lovers. Imagine: cocoa beans imported from a cooperative in the province of Chiapas in Mexico (without intermediaries, in the respect of fair trade) crushed and roasted before your eyes before forming bars, coulis, ice creams, hot and cold drinks... Without preservatives or cocoa butter... Drinks as well as bars can be flavored with many flavors: chili, cinnamon, ginger, crushed hazelnuts, gingerbread mix, coconut, sesame, fleur de sel, almonds, raisins, cranberries, edible flower petals... Among our favorites: chocolate making. You can make your own chocolate bar from the cocoa bean during a 2-hour workshop or simply discover the origins of cocoa (1-hour workshop)!

LE SALON DES DESSERTS

Closed - Open to 08h00

This tea room is located in the shadow of the church, in the center of Saint-Jean. To his head, smiling, Sebastien Caudal and Daniel. As pastries, fine pastries and pastries are made home, like chocolates, caramels, jams, etc. Among the lighthouses: The Chocotarte (a chocolate background, burnt cream and fruit), a dozen of home macarons (salted butter caramel, lemon, pralé, etc.), Charnet (Breton sanded, vanilla cream), the raspberry raspberry, and of course the brioche, the spoil and the flank. It's a marquee year. Sébastien has made a specialty of pastries from the pastry range, like the religious to salty butter caramel. Cakes that have the common point of generosity, such as their creator, one of the emblematic desserts is the rum baba. There are also creations, such as Le Pêché montois (black chocolate foam, caramel, chocolate mousse milk, hazelnuts). In winter, you can taste these delicacies in the small room, accompanied by one of Damman teas or a Viennese chocolate. They will leave the place in summer to ice desserts, vacherine or ice-cream (about ten perfumes), to take away or to enjoy on the terrace.

Enter this contemporary house which gives back its letters of nobility to the cabbage in multiple forms: salted, sweet or garnished. On the menu: Tahitian vanilla chou, salted butter caramel, raspberry, mont-blanc, coconut rocher, coffee tiramisu, lemon meringue... Adjacent to the family bakery-pastry shop in the rue Saumuroise, Charlotte had the good idea to open this space that is both a tea room and a snack bar. A large and bright room with, at the back, a more cosy part, where you can taste at very low prices the pastries and pastries of the house, but also sandwiches, mixed salads, quiches, burgers, wraps or small hot dishes. For dessert, you can treat yourself to a chocolate mousse, a crémet d'Anjou or a fruit salad. Finally, on Saturday mornings, the place proposes a copious brunch.

LA DUCHESSE ANNE

Coffee shop and tea room

In this sophisticated place, the same recipe for hot chocolate has been used for 60 years. How not to be tempted! The first sip revives childhood memories, a real Proust's madeleine. Tea lovers have not been forgotten with a selection of fifteen flavors. Your beverage will go perfectly with a pastry or a chocolate. The greed and happiness felt in this century-old setting are a beautiful tribute to the Godineau family adventure. One last piece of advice: don't ignore their macaroons!

MIMOZA

Gone is the Galand brasserie tearoom, hello Mimoza and its appetizing green front. Pastry chef Sylvain Guesdon has just taken over the establishment, renaming it Mimoza after the mimosa egg. Simple and effective! The soul of the patisserie lives on, as Mr. Galand has passed on his recipes to the new head pastry chef. Upstairs, the seminar area is transformed into an atmospheric bar from Wednesday to Sunday evenings, with platters and cocktails. On Rue de Bolton, Mimoza has reserved a space for takeaway sandwiches. The new owner, who already runs three bakeries, knows his stuff when it comes to sandwiches...

DEBOTTÉ CRÉBİLLON

Coffee shop and tea room

This well known Nantais shop is a reference in the fields of pastry, ice cream, chocolate, roasting and also as a tea room. You can meet there for a good cup of coffee or tea, with delicious pastries. The success is now so well established that there are several Debotté shops in Nantes (tea room activity in the ones on rue Crébillon and rue de Budapest). You can find there high quality products; whether it is excellent chocolate rochers or macaroons that are no less, frangipani from another world, the Nantes cake where rum is not overused. In short, to try to list all the succulent products offered by this brand would be a challenge. The only thing that remains is that everyone will find something to their taste. Because here, whether it is pastries or sweets (caramel, négryllettes, berlingots...), everything is made with fine butter. It should be pointed out that anyone who would like to order a pièce montée would be at the right address. To conclude, let's not forget to mention that the exterior and interior of the shops are very well looked after and that the welcome is perfect. A house in which tradition is preserved with a quality artisanal production from father to son. Please note: at lunchtime, home-made hot dishes are served on rue Crébillon and rue de Budapest.

DELICATESSAINE PATISSIER

Coffee shop and tea room

On the island of Nantes, a stone's throw from the Elephant, an exceptional pastry shop has opened where Sabrina, a naturopath by training, and her husband Grégory Lejeune, a pastry chef, work. They both decided to combine their respective passions around this daring and very successful project. This establishment also gives pride of place to creative, healthy and natural pastries. This alternative pastry shop favours the senses: sight, because "you eat first with your eyes", as Sabrina says, and taste, with flavours such as the pears poached in hibiscus juice in the Déli'biscus (sweet pastry, organic vanilla diplomat), the circle of spirulina on the organic vanilla and white chocolate cabbage. The creations, as pretty as they are tasty, are less sweet because they are made exclusively with natural sugars (for example coconut blossom sugar) with a low glycemic index (ideal for diabetics and gourmets who have to be careful), such as the matcha green tea macaroons, with no additives or artificial colourings, with certified organic French flours, as well as non-hybridized and gluten-free flours. The approach is delicate and healthy, ethical and responsible because it favours local and seasonal products. Délicatessaine is also a tea room where you can sit and drink tea or coffee. And you can also enjoy home-made chocolate bars. And as soon as possible, educational workshops will be offered to learn how to bake lighter. To be made: healthy and tasty snacks for children, or pastries for people suffering from allergens. We can't wait!

CANYON CAFÉ FLEURS

Coffee shop and tea room

Canyon is the first flower café in Nantes. Created by Julia and Simon to delight the senses with dishes, pastries and flowers, the place offers a restaurant with an American touch, revisited with local and seasonal products. You can enjoy a grilled cheese, the club of the week, or a salad, then a homemade granola with vegetable coconut yogurt, or even a trio of sweet or savory pancakes. To be enjoyed with a colored milk like the amazing Raw cacao (fresh raw cacao paste), or a black latte with black sesame and charcoal. Canyon is also the place to offer you a country bouquet composed of pretty seasonal flowers. A pleasant and atypical place!

LA PASSAGÈRE

Coffee shop and tea room

Do you like cosy, hushed and refined tea rooms? You will love La Passagère. Ideally located in the Passage Pommeraye, on the middle floor, it is a place like we like them: the atmosphere is relaxed and delicate. La Passagère is the result of the work of a couple of restaurateurs well known to Nantes gastronomes: Isabelle and Jean-Charles Baron-Lefebvre. They are already at the head of the Baron-Lefebvre house in the Cité des Congrès, the Pellières near the Zenith and the caterer on rue Cassini. All in all, four excellent and unmissable restaurants in the City of Dukes. At La Passagère, you can come and enjoy a hot chocolate or one of the many teas on the menu: smoked black tea, rooibos, red-black tea, white or green tea, whether it's called Midnight Demon, Blue Grass, Casanova or Dragon Well, you'll find the one that suits your palate. What you should not miss are the pastries. You will find them presented in a window like magnificent jewels among which you will have to choose: an excellent tiramisu tart, a no less famous Nantais cake, the delicious small pecan and cranberry cakes or why not the Orélys tart (sweetened shortcrust pastry and a praline base and an Orélys ganache)... The place can be privatized. A bubble of delicacy within an exceptional architecture.
