The Club de la Montagne-Sainte-Geneviève, as it's known, is one of the oldest martial arts clubs in Europe. It is located in the Latin Quarter, behind a patinated wooden gate, in a charming cobbled courtyard, in a setting classified as a historic monument. Master Henry Plée founded the dojo in 1953. A pioneer of karate in Europe, Maître Plée (10th dan) brought in several Japanese and Chinese experts. Since its creation, the club has won numerous French, European and world championships. Pascal Plée, eldest son of Maître Henry Plée, took up the torch after his father. He has been practicing martial arts since the age of 5, starting with judo and then karate at the age of 8. Fascinated by traditional Japanese and Chinese martial arts, he now teaches karate-do(shotokan and Okinawan), kung fu (Crane and Long Point), qin na (Chinese dislocations), taijiquan, tuishou (hand thrusts) and qi gong (health exercises).

It's the ideal family outing, in the great outdoors, and just 30 minutes from the capital. The Floréval Adventure Park offers a thousand and one possibilities for entertainment, starting with accrobranche: 22 courses, including two new ones opened in 2023, with unlimited access to over 350 workshops, all divided according to age, from 3 years to adults. Young children aged 3-8 are particularly spoiled, as their accrobranche ticket gives them free access to 4 additional activities for an unforgettable day: the Accro Spider, the animal area, the forest trail and the Labyrinth. From age 11 upwards, on the "Sensation" course, you'll have access to L'Escal'arbre, a tree to climb with real holds. The highlight of the course is the 18-m high jump into the void at the end of the "Toutenho" course. On the zip line side, there are no less than 2 km of unparalleled sensations on offer! You'll also find a wide choice of activities for all ages and levels: Giant Spider Rides, Pony Rides, Cim'Ejection (a real catapult that will throw you into the heights). Outdoor laser game, escape game, 18-hole mini-golf course, animal area with pony rides, bootcamp divided into several courses... The Floreval Adventure Park forest is PEFC-certified, an organization that guarantees sustainable forest management, and has been awarded the Qualité Tourisme label. You can also eat on site. The site was originally a priory founded in 1120 by the monks of the congregation of Tiron. In 1890, the turfiste and breeder Edmond Blanc bought the domain and transformed it into stud. All existing buildings with the exception of barn have been razed and new buildings are receiving the breeding of purebred horses. The stud farms soon acquire an international reputation that does not wane when the domain was acquired by Marcel Boussac in 1920. In 1980, the State surrendered the stud stud and entrusted its management to the General Council of Hauts-de-Seine. Attention, the Luxembourg garden can offer the best as the worst to the runners. The best by coming early in the morning, the worst one sunny spring Sunday where the crowd will be too many to fully appreciate a good race slice. In Luxembourg, the simplest is to follow the garden tower to enjoy a sufficient distance and avoid the right angle turns, this allows to appreciate the watershed perspective with the magnificent Senate building. The famous green chairs of wrought iron, so representative of this garden, offer a pleasant stop after an unrestrained race. The attendance is cosmopolitan and, depending on the hours, we find a district atmosphere, a student and contemplative atmosphere, or a much more tourist and overloaded atmosphere. Among classic or more exotic species, you can enjoy the sculptures of Bourdelle, Rodin or Ossip for a succession of literary accents.

To take part in the classes, we recommend that you wear a tracksuit, a T-shirt, sports shoes suitable for the gym and thin, light-colored soles. Open - Close in 50 minutes

The club, which has the reputation of being the most posh in France, has existed since 1882! Since September 2006, the mythical Racing Club de France, founded by students from Condorcet, has changed its name, but no place. With forty-eight outside ones, of which are in the beaten land, they come back to the heart of the Bois de Boulogne. Selection at entry is severe: you must be sponsored by two members of the club to hope to play, and, in addition to the contribution, pay a fee of 2 000 € for those under 6 200 and € for those over years of age. At this rate you can also enjoy the swimming pool, sauna, steam bath and gym. Myth has a price, don't forget to keep a budget to buy your balls.

The Racing Club de France has opened a small school with three short seats. Judge, therefore, the rates are - relatively - milder: annual contribution to 50 €, 7-hour booklet from 150 € to 190 €, quarterly session for adults at € 200. BUTTES-CHAUMONT

Jogging Running

1 review

Be careful, running at Buttes-Chaumont is reserved for those who are nostalgic for the mountain and who like painful climbs for their thighs and descents that melt and creak their knees. The steepest park in Paris requires a good physical condition to dare to trot, but with a little training, why not try the experience... In contrast to the French gardens, the Buttes-Chaumont surprise by the regular appearance of landscapes often represented in painting. The small temple of Sybil, which stands on the rocky island in the middle of the lake, is a replica of the temple of Tivoli. The 5.5 kilometres of track and 2.2 kilometres of road offer many opportunities for runners. Enjoy the view from the 30-metre high cliff and visit the lake cave with its fake stalactites. This debauchery of artificial decorum began under Napoleon III who, once the quarries were closed, decided to transform this hill into a garden. After three years of titanic work, the park was inaugurated on April 1, 1867, at the same time as the Universal Exhibition at Champ-de-Mars.

Thus, the dojo's reputation is no longer to be done. Since 2009, members have been up to follow the teachings of the master, and few are disappointed. It's one of the most beautiful dojos in the capital, with a truly pleasant Nippon air. The master considers his art intrinsically linked to Japanese philosophy. All year round, the Valmy and Jemmapes wharves along the Saint-Martin Canal are reserved for pedestrians on Sundays between rue des Écluses-Saint-Martin, rue des Récollets, rue Louis-Blanc, rue Alexandre-Parodi, rue Robert-Blache and the corner of rue Bichat. Enjoyed by the booties and trendy people of the capital, this district is teeming with bars and restaurants that rival each other in their decorative efforts, lining up charming little terraces where it is pleasant to think you are in a provincial village. Before comfort, effort can occur on the 4.5 km that connect the bassin de la Villette to the port of l'Arsenal. Inaugurated on 4 November 1825, the Saint-Martin canal prevented boats from crossing Paris by the meandering Seine, by connecting the Ourcq canal to the Seine. The old-fashioned charm of the locks works perfectly, and the metal walkways with wooden steps offer an extra effort opportunity for the more sporty. The bravest will continue their journey towards the 19th arrondissement as far as La Villette via the Loire and Marne quays, along the Villette basin and the Ourcq canal.

Once a month, a round is organised on Sunday, a participatory time where the gains are highlighted. The practice of the capoeira goes hand in hand with the discovery of traditional instruments such as the berimbau (wood musical arc), the pandero (small tambourines) or the agogo (bells). Without age restrictions, the capoeira combines the physical maintenance in the sense of choreography and rhythm, while aware that the initial problems raised by this expression are still alive in some countries.

Activities are not limited to martial arts, but the infrastructure of the Grenelle Dojo is ideal for coming alone or as a family to initiate or develop in these disciplines. Beginners can try several activities (there are 24 to be precise) before deciding. Judo, karate, kung-fu, taekwondo, viet-dao, qi gong, taï-chi-chuan are among the best known, but you can also discover the Luta Book, an art course of Brazilian Control, or the Penchak-silat, which originates in Indonesia. If you're going to Paris for a limited period of time and if you're looking for a place to carry on with your favorite discipline, it's surely represented in this dojo.
