The Republic of Ireland is part of the European Union, which means that visitors residing in European Member States do not need to make any special request to be able to set foot in it. A passport is not required, a simple identity card (valid) is sufficient to travel across Ireland. Despite the Brexit, the conditions for access to Northern Ireland have not yet changed: : the traveller must simply carry a valid passport or national identity card.
