The largest medieval church in Ireland, built by the Lynch family around 1320, is dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Myra, patron of the sailors. Since the occupation of Galway by the English with Cromwell in 1652, it is a Protestant church.

The "Salmon Dam Bridge" (literally translated) was built in 1818 to connect the court to the cathedral, but also to connect with the main road in Connemara. From this bridge you can see the fly fishermen and, in May-June, salmon from the sea to the lakes.

On the shores of Lough Corrib, this is what remains of a th century fort known as Ceann na Bhalla ("End of the Wall"). Its current name, Spanish Arch, dates back to the last century, at the time of trade with Spain.

A former episcopal residence occupied by the Archbishop of Dublin between the th and early th centuries, the building is now occupied by a police station. The structure and door of origin have been retained.

In 1467, Sean McNamara built the castle of Knappogue which was going to become, in 1571, the seat of the clan clan, counts of West Clancullen. Donagh McNamara was one of the instigators of the 1641 rebellion, and the castle was occupied by Cromwell troops. He was then given to Arthur Smith before returning to the McNamara later. They joined the Scott in 1800. Before handing over the castle to Lord Dunboyne in 1855, Scott had carried out extensive restoration work. Fortunately, matrimonial ties bind the Dunboyne to O'Brien, Rois kings, and to McNamara, counts of Clancullen. This house is the family of Daniel O'Connell, the liberator (he created in 1823 the Catholic association whose goal was to give equal political rights to Catholics). The visit of the site will be more emotional than historic, with disappointment. We will read a few pages of Irish history before going there. The house presents some souvenirs of the liberator, portraits of the family, some canvases, etc.
