Behind a wooden door, in the bohemian district of Rio Vermelho, stands a magical garden, hidden at the end of an alley. Surrounded by a beautiful yellow house, Manjericao is a vegetarian, vegan and organic restaurant. The name "Manjericao" (basil) reflects the owners' love of nature in all its forms, both around us and on our plates. You can eat by the kilo, everything is fresh, light and tasty. The desserts are delicious, as are the fruit juices. The little "micos" monkeys seem to enjoy the place. Another Bahian cuisine.

As the name suggests, the idea here is to combine food by the kilo with culinary flavours. It is certainly a good self-service restaurant for ogre appetites, located in the city centre, on Dom Aquino Street, two blocks from Praça Pantaneira. The buffet, with its array of colours, is impressively varied (they even prepare sushi!) and the quality, without being great cuisine, is satisfactory. Desserts are also served by the kilo. The service is done until 3pm on weekends.

Opened by a young Brazilian, this "osteria" with its fancy decor and clientele fuses Brazilian cuisine with Italian inspiration. Superb cuts of meat, risottos and pasta plates. From pesto and tomato confit risotto to banana gnocchi and traditional pirarucu confitado. Admittedly, prices are a little more expensive than average, but the well-prepared cuisine and decor make it worthwhile. Also on the menu: quiches and soups at reasonable prices.
