EL ASADOR PATAGONICO
Read moreThe meeting of all carnivores. Specialty: cordero al-palo. Yes, the sheep is cooked in the main room, which finds itself smoked… Some of them are disturbed, but in our view it is part of the atmosphere, especially as the (very local) garden is nice as everything. Small adjoining room for smokers, less pleasant. Another corner (the «Shameless club») where you can play cards. Consistent pricing. A good address, that we prefer to Don Jorge on the same place (much more touristic and impersonal according to us).
TE MOANA
Read moreLocated next to the caleta, on the ocean, this restaurant is distinguished by its slightly "chic" side. It has a splendid view (especially at sunset), to accompany an excellent meal in a very pascuan setting. Try the ceviche of course, the camarones al ajillo, the mahi mahi and its camote... the grilled fish with vanilla or red curry are also a delight. The real plus? The cocktails to fall on the ground! Finally, local music concerts are regularly scheduled. An excellent table, one of our favorites.
ESPACIO ÉCOLE
Read moreCreative vegetarian dishes of very good workmanship. Burgers, quiches, calzones, burritos, soups, chop suey, fresh salads, sandwiches (homemade bread)... The breakfast is excellent with a lot of choices on the menu. The plates are coloured with good products, mostly organic and local. During the week, the lunch menu is particularly interesting: vegetarian lasagne, burritos, lentil soup... The service is provided by smiling and caring women. A simple and efficient address that we like very much.
EL PERAL
Read moreA good seafood restaurant where you can enjoy ceviche, grilled octopus, shrimp gnocchi and other local specialties to the rhythm of the music of visiting artists. The view is spectacular, to say the least, and makes for a particularly pleasant setting from the top of this pretty terrace. The daily menu offers a vast and delightful choice. The service is impeccable and smiling, the dishes are well prepared and the prices remain reasonable. A little bucolic break under the Pacific breeze, ideal for a summer lunch
HAKA HONU
Read moreA very popular address because of its idyllic location, facing the ocean, the surfers and the sunset, and its quality dishes. It is true that between its beautiful terrace and its good food Haka Honu is often unanimous! Everything on the menu is excellent, but try the tuna carpaccio, a real delight with its vanilla sauce and taro puree. There are also fish burgers, seafood salads and coconut shrimp. Hinano, the beer of Tahiti, is available as well as well prepared cocktails.
DONDE EL GORDITO
Read moreAt the municipal market, turn left on the way back. This restaurant, which will suit small budgets for lunch, offers soft prices for a cuisine that remains of quality. You'll get your money's worth: the portions are gargantuan! Try the excellent local speciality, salmon or trout a la plancha, or conger eel, crab, shrimps... not forgetting a good pisco sour! The place is sometimes hectic and the service is not always properly provided, but Donde El Gordito is still an institution!
LA OLLA
Read moreAn often full restaurant and a great classic of the city at affordable prices. The house devotes itself more to its seafood specialties, including the famous curanto or sea paella. You have to try the congrio al arriero, delicious. Choice of sea urchins, picorotos (giant barnacles, in fact), almejas (clams) and even seafood empanadas! You can also share picadas. Good value for money and large portions guaranteed even if the service is sometimes a little overwhelmed and the setting a little too impersonal.
AU BOUT DU MONDE
Read moreYou can taste a Franco-Belgian cuisine with local accents: raw fish Tahitian style, tuna steak with vanilla, homemade tagliatelle with smoked salmon, beef fillet, ceviche (delicious with its ginger), vegetarian dishes and Belgian chocolates (the mousse for dessert is a must). Very well prepared and presented dishes in this two-storey restaurant on the ocean, run by Delphine, a Belgian. From the starters to the dessert and the wine list, everything is very good. A little expensive, but the flavours are a change from the classic tuna diet on the island.
CAFE DEL POETA
Read moreA classic decoration for one of the best cafés in the city. Very typical, it is identifiable by its beautiful colored facade. Here, it is not a high place of the Chilean gastronomy, however the menu remains not very expensive the midday and the dishes proposed are of quality. The menus include drinks and there are vegetarian options. All this is always accompanied by friendly and smiling service. The terrace on the square is very popular in summer, a little set back from the street. In short, simplicity is the order of the day and the warmth is real.
LE BISTROT MERCI
Read moreThis restaurant run by Philippe and Martine offers French cuisine with a few Chilean touches. Beef bourguignon, onion soup, rabbit with plums, duck confit or snails... The flavours of the mother country will delight your taste buds! The house also offers vegetarian and vegan options. Moreover, Philippe does not hesitate to leave his kitchen to sing with the customers, a nice atmosphere! Don't hesitate to ask him about the sights in the area, he knows everything like the back of his hand!
MERCADO PALAFITOS
Read moreThe classic municipal market of Chilean cities: lively, colourful, authentic and filled with fresh, local produce! But in Castro the setting is somewhat unusual as the market is located on the edge of the Castro fjord and next to houses on stilts. If you're running away from restaurants and want to eat iodized food at fair prices, then treat yourself. Of course, you will also find seafood and fish specialities. From one shop to another, prices change little, but portions are generally quite generous.
PEA
Read moreOverlooking the sea, opposite the tourist office. The prices are correct, the dishes are good, perhaps uneven. The view is superb on the constant rolling of the waves! A perfect place to enjoy a beer at sunset. Sometimes disco on Saturday evening.
TERCER OJITO
Read moreSalads, quinoa tabbouleh, vegetarian lasagne, onion pie, picante de locos, herbed salmon, ceviches, Thai dishes and natural juices and even sushi: all culinary influences meet in this restaurant that we particularly like. Our preference is for fish and shellfish, however, as we are close to the sea! A friendly atmosphere in a large green patio. The setting is nice and the menu should satisfy all tastes.
LOS VIKINGOS
Read moreIf the Viking longships had reached the Chilean coast, their occupants would undoubtedly have set up a tavern like this! In an exquisite setting dominated by helmets, swords, spears and shields, you take your place in elaborate leather seats before voraciously examining the menu. The menu features grilled meats (entrecôte, baby ribs and a Thor burger!), as well as an excellent paella. All to be washed down with ice-cold beers!
MAR DE AMORES
Read moreAn iodized address on the lively Cerro Alegre! Here, Jorge offers a classic cuisine with a real flavour. Classic? Yes, but creative and above all based on fresh products! The menu offers tuna tartar with Dijon mustard, oysters au gratin in the oven or even seafood lasagne (shrimps, oysters and squid with béchamel sauce... yum!). Vegetarians and vegans will also find something to their liking. The plates are nicely prepared and the restaurant has a nice terrace on the first floor. The bill? Not that expensive.

The products are vegan and will satisfy everyone, even meat eaters will be surprised! The plates are beautiful and colorful, we enjoy ourselves without ruining ourselves. A nice discovery.
ILO MAPU
Read moreHere's a proposal that stands out in the resort's gastronomic landscape! In a modern, elegant setting where natural elements predominate, you can enjoy cuisine inspired by Mapuche tradition and its cosmovision (based on the four natural elements, the four seasons and the four cardinal points). You'll enjoy a whole range of dishes, from meat to fish and seafood, which have been reworked and brought up to date. Save a little room for the desserts - they're incredible!
TRES PECES
Read moreThe Tres Peces, as the name suggests, specializes in fish and seafood. In its charming, bright service room on the Cerro Concepción, decorated with elements evoking Valparaiso's fishing and seafaring heritage, you'll be delighted by the weekly menu. Empanadas and other filled doughnuts, fresh salads with iodine accents, grilled fish and/or seafood, raw fish tatakis with bold flavors and fruity notes - everything is good at "Les Trois Poissons"!
MATA RANGI
Read moreThis friendly little restaurant is located on the waterfront. Its picturesque location on the waterfront offers a direct view of the harbour, the ocean, sea lions, sea lions and pelicans competing for the fishermen's catch. An authentic and picturesque address where excellent cuisine based on seafood is served. The dishes, without pretension, are fresh and tasty. We particularly like the seafood empanadas and the fish of the day grilled a la plancha. An address full of charm that never goes out of fashion.
COTELÉ
Read moreThe rendezvous for all carnivores: here you can eat the best meat in Latin America! It's definitely the best place to eat in Puerto Montt. We tried the lomo vetado, and we still can't get over it: it is indeed a delight! Also try the filet or lomo liso. It's melt-in-the-mouth and divinely cooked. Plus, the concept is nice: you choose what you want and adjust to the weight. Excellent welcome and service, under the leadership of South African Jeremy, in a sublime setting overlooking the bay.
