Covering an area of 27,000 m² and with more than 200 shops and workshops, it is the largest craft centre in the country. It is there, without any doubt, that you will be able to choose your memories with the most happiness while enjoying a pleasant stroll. You can find very beautiful handcrafted objects, of very good quality. Traditional dishes can also be eaten here. This is perhaps one of the best handicrafts areas in the country! You'll find decorative objects and useful utensils (fabrics, sculptures, ceramics, jewelry, musical instruments, clothing, various knick-knacks) either made directly on site, or by neighboring communities. You can also taste locally brewed beers, take part in workshops (ceramics, macramé, candles, woven shoes), and eat at the village's excellent restaurant. Folk festivals are frequently organized!

It is here that you will discover the typical handicrafts of Latin America, especially from Chile, of course, but also from Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina, as well as from Central America. A visit to this shop in the heart of the city is a real trip in itself and will allow you to fill up on gifts and souvenirs. The Fundación Artesanías de Chile is a non-profit organization based on fair trade and currently benefits 2,300 artisans, 78% of whom live in rural areas and 56% of whom are indigenous. You will find a wide variety of handmade crafts from all over the country: furniture, decoration, goldsmithing, ceramics, fashion... Worth the detour especially since you will participate in the valorization of traditional Chilean crafts.

In a very modern wooden structure, they sell handicrafts, jewelry, clothes, chocolates and many other regional and typical souvenirs of Chilean Patagonia. There is also a bookstore specializing in the region, a travel agency and a café-restaurant where hot drinks and some good food (especially southern specialties such as centolla pancakes or mutton and salmon sandwiches) are served. You can also request a car or bicycle rental.

The Chol Chol Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that promotes fair trade in high-quality Mapuche handicrafts and textiles. Based in Temuco, Chile, the foundation works to empower Mapuche artisans through cultural promotion. The foundation also organizes projects and events to promote culture, arts and traditional crafts. They offer management training for Mapuche artisans and have set up a documentation center on techniques and crafts. The foundation also takes part in educational activities in schools and organizes meetings between the craftsmen associated with the foundation.

It is a small artisanal complex, a must for travellers looking for souvenirs. Adobe buildings are used as workshops and sales points. All kinds of articles: ceramics, textiles, paintings, copper jewelry, bags, wood and stone sculptures. Sometimes you can see the different manufacturing processes. Unfortunately, the place being off-center, the craftsmen go more and more to sell in the tourist center (especially in the Feria Artesanal where the objects are a little more expensive). Each "craftsman" (alas often a simple shopkeeper nowadays) has a wooden hut to display his creations: alpaca wool sweaters, gloves, socks, and also a whole paraphernalia of souvenir items of very variable quality, but you will be able to find some small nuggets and unique pieces. However, beware as we have noticed the increasingly distressing presence of items imported from Peru or Bolivia.
