In need of a good pain au chocolat or a crispy baguette? This bakery-pastry shop, run by Arthur, makes its products with love in the French way! You can find everything: baguettes (plain, goat's cheese/green pepper, olives, lardons or roquefort/figues, etc.), butter croissants, pains au chocolat, raisin breads and others. On the savoury side, there are pizzas and sandwiches. The products are fresh and homemade and it is possible to eat on site. Ideal for (very) early breakfasts before leaving on an excursion.

This ice cream parlour has built a solid reputation in just a few years. All the ice creams come from Córdoba in Argentina. We appreciate the chocolate africano or hot chocolate that we accompany with churros, the dulce pecado( Argentineandulce de leche ), a delicious vegan chocolate is also to be discovered as well as the copa valparaíso: brownie, meringue, two flavors of ice cream and whipped cream! The ice creams are without additives and 100% natural. Also breakfasts, sandwiches, coffee and fruit juices.

This excellent ice cream parlour, with its kitschy decor and recognisable pink front, has a great reputation. The flavours are all delicious! You will have the choice among about twenty flavours created from typically Chilean ingredients: Ulmo honey (honey from Patagonia), araucan chocolate or even rose. The house also offers breakfasts, croissants, fruit juices, coffees, teas, sandwiches, soups, salads and guisos caseros (homemade stews). You can sit at the tables on the terrace

This brewery is located on the main street of the small, charming village of Diaguitas (15 minutes by car from the center of Vicuña), a stone's throw from the river! Here, beer is made and sold directly to the restaurant-bar across the street, whose service room is a vast space covered with drapes that let in just the right amount of light. Here, you can visit the facilities and enjoy a tasting (six beers), or both, or simply grab a bite to eat. A pleasant, modern space.

The perfect place to take a little gourmet break! In this pretty establishment with a flowery and bucolic facade, you will be able to savor sweet and savory dishes. They serve excellent pastries, big colorful cakes as well as alfajores, lemon pies or chancacas. On the savory side, you can opt for typical empanadas, sandwiches or French fries. Tea is served in pretty teapots. Every day at noon, a menu is proposed, it's simple good and economical! Two other addresses in town.

This beautiful sign made entirely of wood offers a wide choice of coffees, teas and chocolates, as well as very good fruit juices. Ideal for breakfast or brunch, it also serves homemade pancakes, pies and cakes, as well as a superb chocolate fondue and homemade ice cream. You will also find pizzas, sandwiches, soups and salads. There's something for everyone! Friendly service although a little slow at times: but this is forgivable when enjoying the summer sun on the terrace.

This mountain chalet exudes a friendly atmosphere with its large tables, cosy decoration of wool and wood, and the superb view of the sea and the snow-covered peaks. The place welcomes digital nomads (connected workers), budding writers and other travellers in search of calm and a studious atmosphere. Coffee, tea, empanadas, muffins, sandwiches, homemade soups... Try the cheesecake, it's excellent! Everything is organic and homemade, and you get 5 fruits and vegetables a day: you'll find all kinds of vegetarian and vegan options here.

Little brother of the one in Santiago, this Emporio (name given in the past to a quality or gourmet shop, as we say here) offers breakfasts, croissants, fruit juices, coffees, sandwiches, soups, salads, quiches and some Chilean specialities(porotos granados, charquicán or tomaticán in particular). Also well known for its ice cream (on the spot or to take away), Emporio la Rosa has nothing to envy to its Italian competitors! You can find 25 different flavours among which rose, dulce de leche, honey, frutos del bosque... A treat!

The kind of place you stay in so long as you feel comfortable there. Created by a Berlin immigrant, this café-restaurant will adapt to all your desires: sweetened sweetness, lunch menu, coffee break or aperitif, the menu is tempting and the atmosphere of the place evokes the country of the other side of the Rhine. At lunchtime, a value-for-money menu is also available. In the summer, you can enjoy the terrace and taste the house speciality, the Berliner: an Austro-German donut filled with chocolate. Yummy!

It's raining and the weather's gray? Console yourself with a nice big steaming mug of chocolate! This handmade chocolate factory offers a variety of equally delicious varieties. You can drink a good coffee, devour cookies and kuchen, taste homemade ice cream or keep the good old traditions and opt for a mousse... chocolate mousse of course. You'll also find soups, sandwiches and juices. The tables on the terrace are pleasant when the weather is nice and wifi is available.

An address to consider for a good breakfast or for an ounce if you want to respect the local custom! Home-made ice creams are also a must: raspberry, melon, peach, redcurrant, pineapple... The coffee is excellent: it is accompanied by imposing cakes and pastries of Germanic influence (Bavarian, kuchen, strudel...). To discover: chocolates with liqueur and fruits of the region and liqueurs of these same fruits. The murta, a bay picked in March and April, is to the region what the murtilla is to the south of Italy.

The Temuco market, built in 1930, is considered one of the most beautiful in Chile. Unfortunately, after a fire in April 2016, the market was significantly destroyed. 100% of the market premises were destroyed and their tenants, mainly Mapuche, have since been without a source of income. The Mapuche people used to come there to sell their handicrafts (weavings, woven baskets, wooden objects) and agricultural products. Reconstruction work officially began in January 2020, but the market is not expected to reopen until 2024 or even 2025.

Notice to food lovers! Tortas Montero is one of the specialities of the town of Curicó. The recipe has remained the same since it was invented by Doña Cristobalina Montero in 1891, and in 1995 Tortas Montero entered the Guinness Book of Records for having made the largest cake in the world! With a diameter of 10 meters, it weighed 23,000 kilos and was tasted by more than 500,000 people (as it was distributed throughout Chile). But here, fortunately, for the sake of your stomachs, it is only sold in 100 g, 250 g or 1 kilo formats.

A 10-minute walk from the central market, a more authentic and exotic market with its stalls of spices, fish, meat, fruit, vegetables ... As you can see, it's got everything. The atmosphere is friendly and warm, one tastes the merken, a spice with a pungent and smoky flavour, one discovers the guava tree with a taste of wild strawberry and one raves about the virtues of the Cochayuyotu seaweed which invigorates the body and regulates cholesterol. Finally, you can enjoy very inexpensive meals in one of the 200 restaurants available.
