ST. VINCENT'S CHURCH
Read moreFrom the first church, it remains the nave of three spans, curved in broken cradle, covered at the origin of a single roof. The doubleaux arches which reinforce it fall into committed columns whose capitals are decorated with magnificent acanthes sheets surmounted by a medallion framed by small animals or surmounted by geometric and symmetrical web. At the intersection of the transept is a dome resting on small tubes. The choir contains a short straight span that opens onto the apse in the chamber. The Roman tradition tile cover contrasts with small tiles used for other parts of the building.
CLOISTER GALLERY
Read moreThe cloister, built in the th century under the auspices of Jacques de Mareschal and Pierre de Laporte, was revived at Anne de France. The galleries are not collateralized but incorporated into the bâtiiment. The seven spans of the northern gallery are still visible. The arcades, punctuated by foothills, are surmounted by a floor with windows openings, crowned with a roof of flat tiles. At the bottom of this gallery is an elegant turret, lit by small twisted mouldings, which houses a hollow-core staircase.

LILY PARK AND ABBEY
Read moreThis 8 ha park, located in Dammarie-les-Lys, offers an amazing view of the ruins of the royal abbey of Notre-Dame-du-Lys! This former Cistercian abbey was founded by Blanche de Castille and Louis IX in 1244. Long abandoned and then transformed into an animal enclosure during the Revolution, it was then sold as a ruin at the end of the 18th century. It is now classified as a Historic Monument. To enjoy the place, a beautiful summer day is preferable: these imposing transept, choir and chevet still in place, in their green setting under a beautiful blue sky, impress at first glance! Surprisingly, it is possible to walk among the remains without any barrier disturbing the walk; hence the presence - alas - of some very unwelcome graffiti on the stone! In any case, this is enough to satisfy the archaeology enthusiast who will be able to browse as he pleases. Note the presence, nearby, of designed gardens, as well as the Didier Lockwood Music Centre.
