THE TEMPLAR DUNGEON
Read moreOn the highest point of the village, stands the old 12th-century tower, known as Templar, the order of the Templar Knights who had a strong influence in the region in the past. But the fact that it was the seat of a residence of the temple is extremely contested. When the place was transformed into a town hall in the 19th century, it was topped by a clock tower and a bell. The clock underwent an identical reconstruction to keep the aesthetic structure of the building. The view over the landscape is magnificent.

THE CHURCH OF OUR LADY
Read moreThe church dates from the end of the 12th century. Under the choir, there was a small underground church of the 11th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries, a gargoyle bell tower and side chapels were added to it. In one of them, you can see a primitive anonymous of the Avignon school, dating back to 1498 and depicting the crucifixion, as well as a processional cross dating from the same period. We can say that its simplicity is like that of the village that has a little rough air. But all this is heated by the very soft colour of the stone.

THE GREETING
Read moreThis is the only remaining item of the castle built by Guillaume de Forcalquier in the twelfth century. A bell tower has been added to it long ago to give it a campanil. Today, it is on the Mirabeau Square and houses the tourism office. It was initially just a fortified tower. External threats multiplied, Guillaume Roger du Turenne built a real castle (15th century century) with a dungeon, main building, rectangular enclosure and ditches of protection. This fortress was demolished in 1596. The tower will be converted into a belfry in 1605.

THÉÂTRE ANTIQUE
Read moreThis theater was built in the 1st century AD. Proof of this is the marble statue of Tiberius found in front of the royal gate. It has, of course, been protected as a historical monument since 1862. It's one of the few public buildings in the city that still retains the splendor of Roman times. Imagine, all along the stage wall, imperial statues and divinities facing over 6,000 spectators! Mimes and pantomimes were performed in the Roman style. Now restored, it hosts numerous shows as part of the Vaison Festivals, the International Dance Festival, the Choralies... there's no shortage of events.
