ST. BLAISE CHAPEL
Read moreBuilt in the sixteenth century by Geoffroy de Pompadour, bishop of the Puy, this parish church of the country of Pompadour has undergone a second life since 2008 thanks to the work of André Brasilier, Rome's first grand prize of painting and host of Villa Médicis. A monumental contemporary fresco of 500 m ² covers the walls and the arch that have been redesigned and shimmered for the project. Colorful and colorful paintings of different blues take on the main themes of the Bible in scenes populated by animals (including the horse for which the city and the artist have a common passion). A decoration that attracts a lot of children, guided by the book-game offered by the tourist office (the question course can be done with the family). For 5 years, this renovation and creation work has brought together many companions including the artisans of the famous Paccard foundry for bells and the Limoges Vitrail Workshop. The 30-minute comment is complemented by the projection of a 40-min film that traces the stages of this restoration and shows the companions at work.

THE ROMANESQUE CHURCH
Read moreA jewel of Romanesque art, this church was part of a vast priory attached to the Abbey of the "Chair God", founded by Robert de Turlande. The Benedictine monks contributed to its construction in 1122, imposing building on the edge of this vast plateau dominating the country. Despite the violence of the wars of Religion and the Sling, which only saves the choir in the ambulatory and the transept, it retains its nobility and greatness. In the interior, the ambulatory of the pilgrimage churches surrounds the enhanced chorus. Notice the sculpted capitals: the one located near the entrance to a juggler (frequent companion of pilgrims on the route of Compostelle) and the expression of the face of the very beautiful Christ, a pure gem of Spanish origin, which seems to follow you and, in turn, to speak, look and communicate his suffering and tenderness; view of the right, his eyes evoke the serenity of death seems to follow you. In summer, the church hosts classical music concerts at the "Festival de Saint Robert" and guided tours are organised.

It was enlarged from bas to the early th century. The chevet, with Cistercian inspiration, is the oldest part. Struck by lightning in 1841, his bell was rebuilt by Viollet-le-Duc. Inside, take the time to observe the floral motifs carved on the columns of columns that overcome the spans, beautiful woodwork, 1864 th century stalls, pietà wooden pietà of the 1874 th century or the organ of Cavaillé-Coll, realized between and in the neo-Renaissance style. In the th century, François Bosroussel, a master doctor in Ussel, ordered the foil of the quartermaster, the tabernacle and the altarpiece (the latter is not present anymore).
