SAINT-GENEST CHURCH
Church to admire an interesting furniture, various sacerdotal objects as well as wall paintings of the 15th century
The church is located below the village of Curemonte on the road to Marcillac-la-Croze, in the village of Saint-Genest. Built in the 12th century by Benedictine monks next to a barn that has now disappeared, it was the seat of a fully-fledged parish until the Revolution, then attached to Curemonte. Since its recent restoration, it has become a museum with a religious focus. There you can admire interesting furniture, various sacerdotal objects as well as wall paintings of the 15th century that have been brought up to date, in particular a soul weighing angel and a funerary litre. If the building is locked, the key can be requested from the inhabitants of the hamlet.
