You cannot schedule a getaway in Pontarlier without stopping at Rue des Lavaux. It is there that the last renowned communal distillery with its stills and centenary tuns - probably the most prestigious heritage of the country of Absinthe - are found. Founded in 1890 by Armand Guy, it produces top quality items and offers an instructive visit inside. The secrets of manufacturing are preserved for an exact match with the flavours of the past. Whether you are alone or accompanied, give in to the anise vapours of the "Pont" of spirits made from Gentian and other spirits with fir buds! You will learn a lot about absinthe, the manufacturing of the Pont and, above all, you can taste everything in order to visit the whole region in a pleasant way. Note that if you have trouble finding the Pont or absinthe once at home, you can order some by contacting the distillery!

François-Xavier Vitrac oversees this Haut-Doubs institution. 4 generations of know-how have created famous beverages such as the fir bud liqueur or the famous Pontarlier-Anis with green anise. Here again, absinthe is now also available as a liqueur. New products include Sapont, a Pontarlier with fir buds, and a book. And the taster's panoply of eaux-de-vie, cocktails and semi-confit fruits. The Distillerie has been awarded the "Entreprise du patrimoine vivant" (Living Heritage Company) distinction.

To south-east of Loue, a few kilometres before Lods, you can taste and of course buy wines certified Wines from Franche-Comté. In the past, the vines covered the slopes of the Loue Valley, the houses whose entrance, raised, dominates the access to the cellars. For a long time, wine had almost disappeared from the landscape, but a decade ago, the Association for development and animation of the Loue valley (Ruranim) undertook to reactivate the production of local wine. More than 6 ha of vines were remodelled and planted in Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Auxerre. Production has steadily increased since then, and the result is astonishing.

The Wolf Hole is a friendly atmosphere, like at home! The wine cellar offers wines from France, especially the Rhone valley, as well as spirits from the end of the world; for tasting, you will choose from the proposal of your host, wines, whiskies, crémants… whether you accompany a plate of local products or tapas. This brewery has replaced the former bar-restaurant of the village. It is the work of Anaïs who has given back to this place its role of economic and social lung. She has started to produce top-fermented, unfiltered, unpasteurized beers that are refermented in the bottle. It works a bit like the Anglo-Saxon way to obtain light foams, but with character. The spring water is local, the cereals largely comtoises, the hops Alsatian and English. 5 permanent beverages come out of the brewery, including of course "La Dam'Naïs"!

This store is an offshoot of the Arbois cooperative. Here, almost opposite the Saline Royale, you'll be greeted by Valérie's smile and professionalism. The diversity of Jura appellations she will introduce you to will delight all your senses. And you'll leave with just what you're looking for: vin jaune, macvin, vin de paille or crémant, Arbois reds and rosés... A marvel for alcohol lovers, a superb vin de paille marc!
