Things to see and do Orne

The Tourouvre Museums are several museums: that of the French Emigration to Canada and that of Trades and Brands. The first one perpetuates the memory of this founding epic that 325 Percherons lived through. As pioneers, they faced the ocean and a difficult winter before building the first houses on the shores of the St. Lawrence in New France. The second museum is devoted to the small shops, stalls and advertisements of yesteryear that are still remembered. The Cano House, finally, deals with the issues of contemporary emigration to Canada.

One of the last vestiges of a forest that existed in Gallo-Roman times: the Silva Pertica. Renowned for its sessile oaks and beeches, the forest area covers more than 1,600 hectares and is home to some remarkable trees. They are about 350 years old and were planted at the time of Louis XIV and today reach 40 m in height. You will discover protected natural areas, numerous varieties of mushrooms (regulated picking)... and the buildings of the Valdieu Charterhouse (private property), a high place in the monastic history of the Perche.
