Notre-Dame de Sées Cathedral, in Norman Gothic style, was rebuilt and finally opened in 1210.

The episcopal city of Sées was a major centre of Norman religious life. The cathedral, built in the5th century, was destroyed and then rebuilt. The building as we know it today dates back to 1210, and is one of the jewels of the Norman Gothic style. The Latin cross floor plan, cross-ribbed ceilings and series of pointed arches enhanced by triple entablature accentuate the visual effect of stability and height. The grand organ is featured at the festival.

Cathédrale de Sées
Cette cathédrale gothique que l'on découvre de très loin est très imposante et typique de cette époque normande. Avec une histoire très longue, cette cathédrale a été le "témoin" de nombreux évènements historiques. Une exposition permet de situer la cathédrale dans l'histoire. La nef est très haute et l'intérieur est très imposant et très sobre. Autour de la cathédrale plusieurs bâtiments datent du Moyen Age et ont été parfaitement restaurés.

Un superbe livre à pouvoir s'offrir ou offrir pour 30€, sur la Cathédrale de Sées de sa toute 1ère construction à ce jour. Les photos sont magnifiques.
Disponible à l'Oiseau Lyre de Sées (61500) dans la petite rue en parallèle de la rue principale

Visit a highly interesting building. Alone or with children. Only or guided tour, we learn full of things on these huge buildings that we would not be able to reproduce today in the same way. During the Heritage Days (in September) plan to visit the wheel which is very impressive. Only one advice, visit this wonder.
