The tradition of markets goes back to 1497, with the authorization given by Charles VIII to Count Jean de Saint-Symphorien to establish a market every Monday and 3 fairs per year (11 June, 29 September, 6 December). Since 1972, this market concerns calves from 8 days to 5 weeks old. The traders present are only allowed to enter the sales area after the whistle at 10am. By 10.15am, the sales are over and the farmers take their calves to the traders' trucks.
