Take the direction of the Estaque by the A 55 towards Martigues or the port by the N 568, to the Plage beach, as well as by bus line No 35 and get off at the terminus. Walk a few hundred metres and go along the railway line on the Blue Coast. The line is not electrified, but TER and cargo convoys circulate in the middle of a splendid landscape. Before the tunnel, descend on the left; drague on the sides of the road and on the naturist beach, very gay, even if here you can cross families.

MANOSQUE MARKET

Markets
5/5
1 review

The Manosque market maintains with panache the tradition of Provencal markets in the heart of town centres and old towns. It takes over various streets and squares in the historic centre: Place du Docteur Joubert, Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, Place Marcel Pagnol, Promenade Aubert-Millot, Esplanade François Mitterrand and Jardin Voghera. It is an explosion of colors, smells and sounds, drowned by an endless stream of pedestrians mixing Manosquins who came to buy supplies and tourists bathing in this typical and friendly atmosphere. Not to be missed!

At the top of Rue du Maréchal-Joffre, Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs des Carmes, Grand Siècle historical monument and property of the town, has been renovated to accommodate an extension of Musée Granet deployed on 700 m². Between 1865 and 1878, the site had already been used as an annex to the museum to receive a large donation. This space, opened in June 2013, is dedicated to the advent of modernity such as Cézanne initiated it and showcases the masterpieces of the 20th century of the remarkable collection disposed at Musée Granet for fifteen years by the Fondation Jean et Suzanne Planque, a collection rich in works by Cézanne, Picasso, Dubuffet or Monnet. Nearly 300 works are visible. A showcase for a jewel...

LAPIDARY MUSEUM

Archaeology
4.7/5
3 reviews

Found in the Jesuit chapel, the Lapidaire Museum has some collections of Greek, Etruscan, Roman, Gallo-Roman and Egyptian arts from the Calvet museum. It has recently been refurbished to permit the public to see some articles that have been preserved for more than fifty years, while waiting for the creation of a room dedicated to Antiquity. You can discover several chapels dedicated to the Greek collections, including monumental vases and an exceptional collection of funerary steles and votive reliefs, from the excavations undertaken by the Fondation Calvet in Vaison-la-Romaine 1838-1852. The baroque chapel and its stone decor are also worth a visit. A Greek chapel was opened in 2013 with the presentation of Corinthian and Attic vases, classic and Hellenistic terra-cottas from Asia Minor, Egypt, Greece and Magna Graecia. Among the latter, figures a beautiful male head that was part of a statue that dates from the first half of the third century BC.

TOULON DOWN THE STREET

Themed tours and activities
4.7/5
3 reviews

Why is Tombades street next to Boucheries street? Who were Pierre Puget and Louis Blanc? What was the name of Cathedral Square during the Revolution? The name of a street is a reflection of an era, a history and geography of the place. Toulon has expanded three times it initial size, amending the streets and their names, not to mention the influence of dramatic events such as wars and epidemics. The name of a street is a souvenir and an identity left for future generations.

MAGIC PARK LAND

Amusement park
4.3/5
7 reviews

Located in one of the valleys of the Estaque massif, Magic Park Land is a large amusement park for children, well equipped, well organized to allow them to spend a few hours, a half-day or even a full day, magical. Accompanied by an adult for toddlers or freely if older ones, they will be able to scare themselves by trying the Infernal Tower, navigate the Adventure River, move on the Mississippi Train tracks, board the Pirate Boat or move up a gear in the Formula One attraction. The park's new attraction for 2017: the Frisbee with its 17 m freefall. Parents will also find on site: a Texan restaurant, a saloon, a creperie… and a picnic area. Note that many shows are organized every day: cowboys, snake charmer, clown… Note that this park offers rides adapted to the youngest (measuring less than one meter) and from 2 years old but that there are not any for teenagers. An advice from Petit Futé: in case of bad weather (strong winds for example) the park can exceptionally close. Call in case of doubt before going there.
