The Sainte-Léonce cathedral, classified as a historical monument since 1862, is one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in France and one of the most visited sites in the region. It has 2 naves, Notre-Dame, composed of 3 cross vaults with cross windows and Saint-Etienne which has 6 barrel vaults. The baptistery, one of the oldest in France, located on the southwest side of the cathedral, has an octagonal room and a baptismal font.

Bien curieuse que cette cathédrale Saint-Léonce ... Elle est précédée d’un narthex délimité par quatre gros piliers du 12e siècle qui soutiennent trois voûtes en berceau dont la fonction principale est de soutenir le clocher. Une fois le narthex franchi, on entre dans la nef principale, la nef Notre-Dame dont l’abside abrite la cathèdre de l’évêque. À gauche de cette nef est greffée une deuxième, la nef Saint-Étienne.
À mon avis, la cathédrale, bien que valant une visite, n’est pas la “star” du complexe épiscopal et est largement éclipsée par l’intérêt que suscitent le baptistère et le cloître.
