While an important protohistorique necropolis discovered near the Petit Voisy attests to an occupation of the territory prior to the Gallo-Roman era, the first mention of Veaugues dates from only 1172. The parish was then under the patronage of the chapter of Saint-Etienne de Bourges and the seigneury of Veaugues depended on the châtellenie of the Aix-d'Angillon. In the th and th centuries, Veaugues's quarries provided limestone constructions. The construction of the Bourges-Cosnes railway line opened in 1893 has continued to attract workers in this village whose air quality will later seduce the people.
