Neuvy-sur-Barangeon lies 8 km south of Nançay. With a population of 1,000, the village is located in the Sologne Berrichonne natural region. The village has many tourist attractions, the most important being the Château du Grand-Chavanon (Château de Saint-Hubert), built between 1895 and 1897 by the Marquis du Bourg de Bozas for his son, who never occupied it. In 1935, the Archbishop of Bourges purchased the Saint-Hubert estate to house the minor seminary of his diocese. In March 1936, Dom Bellot, a Benedictine architect from Wisques, built a chapel. After various owners from 1970 to 1978, it was one of Jean-Bedel Bokassa's French properties, rented and then acquired by the Cercle des Combattants of Roger Holeindre, one of the leaders of the Front National at the time, and then bought back in 2005 to turn it into a luxury gîte. It was bought back in 2010 and has since been managed by a private SCI. Other interesting sites include Historimage, a museum dedicated to contemporary warfare, the Maison de l'Eau, a museum on water in Sologne with a park, and the Tourbière de la Guette, which can be explored via an interpretation trail and educational panels. The étang de la Boulasse, a meeting place for pétanque and fishing, the étang de la Noue, with its campsite and fishing facilities, and the Barangeon, the river that runs through the village, are all great places for green tourism.
