Monéteau is the first town you will pass through if you arrive from the north of France on the A6. Here you will find one of the largest shopping and hotel areas in the region, as well as the local ice rink and bowling alley. For over thirty years Monéteau has hosted a Book and Comic Strip Festival ("Festi Livres", in October). And a beautiful and very lively theatre, the Skéneteau. But the town is also known for its famous Gustave Eiffel-style bridge, the structure of which dates back to 1913. Note that the hamlet attached to it, Sommeville, is considered as the geographical centre of the department.
