The name of this small town of 800 inhabitants surrounded by wonderful natural areas is derived from a Githabu word whose meaning is still vague, but the most convincing is "ducks on water". Only 14 km from the Queensland border via the beautiful Mt Lindsey Hwy, the city is dominated by the McPherson Range, with notably Mt Lindesay (alt. 1,195 m) and Mt Barney (alt. 1,359 m) and at least five national parks. With its many shops (gas station, supermarket, hotel, pub, camping, post office...) and many ideas for nature walks, the town invites you to stay for a night or a weekend
