Located just outside Mavrovo National Park, this village marks the beginning of the small Strogovo massif, which peaks at 2,318 m altitude at Strogovo Peak, some 10 km to the south as the crow flies. Mogorče can be reached by a small road that climbs through beech and oak forests. The road ends here. Mogorče is a cul-de-sac, but a pretty one with houses clustered around a modern white mosque with a high minaret. The inhabitants are mostly Turks or Torbeš (Muslim Macedonians) and there are no real restaurants or accommodation here, only shops and bars. There are, however, fine views over the valley of the Mala Reka, the "little river" spanned by the superb Elen Skok bridge at 680 m altitude. This is the starting point for a pleasant 15.8 km hike to Galičnik, at an altitude of 1,500 m, one of the most emblematic villages in the Mavrovo National Park.
