Located only a few minutes from the capital, the massif of the «black mountain in Skopje» is one of our favourite places in the country: Magnificent mountain landscapes, fantastic monasteries with dazzling frescoes (see box), good traditional restaurants and numerous hiking paths. From the Weekend, the Skopiotes affluent to take the air. But foreign tourists, however, have little attraction in this deemed "complicated" region. Both rural and banlieusarde, this border area is indeed very fragmented culturally with both Serbs, Albanians and Slav Macedonians. Moreover, the Skopska Crna Gora experienced Dark Times during the war in Kosovo (1999) and the inter-ethnic conflict in 2001. But the Albanian separatists are not alone in having views of the region. Serbia also challenged the splitting of the border… until 2013. The local Macedonian Macedonian population remains very attached to its dialect: . This one, close to Serbian, was used as a matrix of the Slavic-Macedonian language created in the s. to differentiate it from Bulgarian. It is true, it is true, that is a little complicated. But so beautiful at the same time. Beautiful and complicated: then there is no doubt, we are in the Republic of Macedonia.Situation. The mountain massif of the Skopska Crna Gora (pronconer-ska tser-na Gora) is situated 50 km along the border with Kosovo to southern Serbia. In the Republic of Macedonia, it is on horseback in several municipalities, the main ones being Čučer Sandevo (8 500 inhabitants) and Butel (36 000 inhabitants) north of Skopje, and Lipkovo (27 000 inhabitants) north-west of Kumanovo. The most interesting villages to visit are located between 15 and 28 km north of the city centre of Skopje, either by the west via road E 65/A 4 leading to the border crossing with Kosovo, either by the centre with the Butelska Road or by the astonishing road Aleksandar Urdarevski (from the south of Butel Municipality, at the ProCredit Bank level), is still by the road of Kumanovo to reach the eastern part of the massif.Transport. You are advised to visit the Skopska Crna Gora by car (very easy to access) to easily move from one monastery to another. By bus, the bus station can take line No. 61 for Pobožje (at least 1 bus/h), No. 71 for Banjane (1/h), No. 47 for Ljubanci (1/h) and No. 47 a for Ljuboten (8 bus/j.). Information: jsp.com.mk.Advice to travellers. France and Belgium recommend to their nationals «special vigilance», Brussels advising «on day and major axes». Switzerland also states that «the risk of attacks cannot be excluded». Finally, Canada believes that "travel in the regions(...) which are on the border of Kosovo and Serbia may present a risk".
