Trnovo/Трново (pronounced "turnovo") is divided into two: the main settlement belongs to the Bosnian Serb Republic (municipality of Istočno Sarajevo) and has about 2,000 inhabitants, mostly Bosnian-Serbs; the central part belongs to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and has about 1,800 inhabitants, mostly Bosniaks. The main town is 23 km southeast of Istočno Sarajevo, 28 km southwest of Ilidža and 49 km northwest of Foča. Bus connections: line no. 47 from Ilidža and bus from/to Foča.Located at the foot of the Treskavica mountain, Trnovo has beautiful scenery, but is hardly a tourist destination. It is an important crossing point on the M18 road from Sarajevo to Sutjeska National Park (Foča region). It is also the way to Turovi before climbing to the big lake of Treskavica. Trnovo has the particularity of being crossed by a corridor of about 6 km wide: since 1995, it connects the city of Goražde, in Eastern Bosnia, to the rest of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the main town, one can see the Serbian Orthodox Church of the Great Martyr St. George (Crkva Svetog Velikomučenika Georgija) dating from 1886 and a mosque (Džamija Trnovo) destroyed in 1992 and rebuilt in 2004. Going up the river Željeznica towards Turovi, you will reach the beautiful Kazani waterfall. Opposite, an organic farm offers products (eggs, cheese...) and accommodation.
