Several hikes await walkers in the Kauaeranga Valley. The most popular of these, the Kauaeranga Kauri Trail, climbs to Pinnacles Hut (7-9 hours round trip). Here, hikers can pitch their tent or sleep in a hut. At an altitude of 759 m, the Pinnacles ridge dominates Coromandel Park, offering 360-degree views. Other treks, of varying lengths, criss-cross the park, passing through sublime green landscapes. Equipped with torches, hikers can visit the entrances to old mines to observe the glow worms. One of the longest routes leads to Whangamata (east coast).
