If it weren't for the remarkable archeological site of Mleiha and its red dunes dying on the mountain slopes, no one would talk about this small village of barely 5,000 inhabitants located 50 km east of the city of Sharjah. At the end of the 1960s, a Danish archaeological team went there at the request of the sovereign, who showed them some old artefacts he had personally found during a hunting trip. Since then, several teams of archaeologists have visited the site, including a French team between 1986 and 1995, and excavations are still going on! The site is also home to numerous fossils. It's a great place to get away from it all.
