Located in the west of Asturias, the Fuentes del Narcea region covers 1,282 km² and is home to lush nature. It is criss-crossed by large rivers and bordered by small villages. The Natural Park of the springs of the Narcea covers 555 km². Within the park there are two nature reserves: the Muniellos Forest and the Cueto de Arbás Forest. Trout and salmon fishing is practiced in the park. The beech and oak forests, on steep massifs, are home to the Cantabrian brown bear, wolf, wildcat and capercaillie, among other species. There are many hiking trails in the area.
