On the western slopes of the Montseny massif, Tagamanent is one of the largest and least populated towns in the Vallès Oriental. Its vegetation is largely made up of pine and oak woods, and its mountainous and rugged orography is made up of breathtaking panoramas criss-crossed by hiking trails. From the Pla de la Calma, a beautiful and relatively easy walk takes you to the hill known as Tagamanent, whose name, upside down, means "hidden child". According to legend, after the death of Peter the Catholic, his son, the future King James the Conqueror, was placed under the protection of the Templars who hid him in the castle of Tagamanent. At 1,056 metres above sea level, the tiny urban nucleus, where the ruins of the Romanesque church of Santa Maria and the famous castle lie, gives the sensation of being cut off from the world in front of a view that stretches out to infinity.
