The small town of Jamestown is just 15 minutes from Columbia. It's best known for its state historic park, Railtown 1897, the second largest in Tuolumne County after Columbia. There are also small wineries, antique stores, a cigar bar, restaurants and historic hotels. It's possible to try your hand at gold panning in Woods Creek, which is great fun. Be sure to stroll along the Walk of Fame and try to recognize the cinematographic achievements that were filmed in Jamestown, among them: Little House on the Prairie.
