One of the islands of the eponymous marine reserve, South Water Caye is a haven of peace where it is pleasant to leave your shoes behind and walk on the deserted beach and swim in the surrounding crystal clear waters. Fishing and diving are also in the spotlight on this little corner of Paradise, where day visitors from Placencia or Hopkins land for lunch. A marine biology research centre that operates in partnership with Boston University welcomes students throughout the year. Two hotels are located at each end of the island.
