This charming little village of three hundred souls is situated on horseback between the Vallées and Doller valleys, about 25 km from Mulhouse. It is known especially since the introduction in 1982 of an artificial water plan: the Michelbach dam feeding the municipality of Mulhouse into drinking water. The main interest of this dam is to capture the water from the Doller to regulate the feeding of the water table. This water reserve has given the place a particularly quiet area for the establishment of many bird species in Alsace. Thus, not far from different species could be listed making the place the second nesting place, after the Rhine area.
