Inhotim is a surprise as only Brazilians know how to offer. 70 km south of Belo Horizonte, this concept museum is a fascinating cultural complex: it combines an open-air museum of contemporary art with an incredible botanical garden. The collection includes works by national artists such as Adriana Varejão and Cildo Meireles, as well as pieces by foreign masters such as Colombian artist Doris Salcedo and Dane Olafur Eliasson. More than 100 works are presented in the heart of the botanical garden (designed by Burle Marx...of course) and its 1,200 plant species. A must-see for lovers of contemporary art and nature!
