Day 1: Arrival in Rio de Janeiro

Steps: Rio De Janeiro, Curitiba

Morning climb to Corcovado (via the small bondinho de Cosme Velho) for a bird's eye view of the city. In the afternoon, walk around Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, buy a Flamengo jersey at the club's headquarters in Gavéa and visit the beautiful Jardim Botanico. Dinner in one ofIpanema's many trendy restaurants.

Day 2: Tour of downtown Rio

Steps: Rio De Janeiro, Brasília

Visit the city center, avenida Rio Branco, Saara open-air market, Largo da Carioca with Santo Antonio convent, Metropolitan Cathedral, Arcos da Lapa. At midday, a ride on the bondinho to the bohemian district of Santa Teresa. Lunch followed by a visit to the Chacara do Ceu museum and Parque das Ruinas. Dinner concert in Lapa, at the Carioca da Gema, or at the Rio Scenarium.

Day 3: Stroll along the beach and climb the morro de Leme

Steps: Rio De Janeiro

Early morning walk along the beaches of Ipanema and Leblon. Take a dip near Arpoador rock. Late morning visit to the Copacabana fort. Afternoon tour of Copacabana and climb the Morro de Leme for the best view of one of the world's most beautiful bays. Late afternoon shopping at Rio Sul, followed by dinner at a chic bohemian restaurant in Santa Teresa.

Day 4: Going green in the Tijuca forest

Steps: Rio De Janeiro, São Paulo

Stroll through the Tijuca forest on the easy Pedra Bonita climb, with incredible views of the southern districts of São Conrado and Barra da Tijuca. Lunch in the forest. In the afternoon, visit the MAM, MAC and/or MAR art museums or take a stroll in Flamengo Park. In the late afternoon, climb to Pão de Açucar to enjoy the sunset over Copacabana. Dinner in Copacabana.

Day 5: Heading for Tiradentes

Steps: Petrópolis, Tiradentes

Early departure by car from Rio, arriving mid-morning in Petrópolis, a former imperial city. Visit to the Imperial Museum, then lunch in Petrópolis. Afternoon drive to Tiradentes, reached in the late afternoon. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the center and dinner in the central square, Largo das Forras.

Day 6: Around Tiradentes

Steps: Tiradentes, Santa Bárbara, São João Del Rei

In the morning, visit the old town of Tiradentes, the Matriz Santo Antonio, the São José fountain and the pretty decoration stores. In the afternoon, take the little train from Maria-Fumaça to São João del Rei, and visit the historic center. Dinner in Tiradentes, in a restaurant serving typical Mineira cuisine.

Day 7: Tiradentes - Congonhas - Ouro Preto.

Steps: Ouro Preto, Congonhas, São João Del Rei

In the morning, departure from Tiradentes for the small town of Congonhas and visit to the magnificent Bom Jesus Basilica. Early afternoon arrival in Ouro Preto, the jewel of Baroque art in Brazil. Start your visit(São Francisco, Nossa Senhora do Pilar, Museo do Oratorio...) and stroll through the narrow cobbled streets.

Day 8: Discovering Ouro Preto

Visit the city and its dozens of Baroque churches. Dinner in Ouro Preto at one of the city's many gastronomic Mineiro restaurants. The former capital of the state of Minas Gerais, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is spectacular for its rich historical heritage and its location at the foot of the Itacolomy mountain.

Day 9: Departure for Belo Horizonte

Steps: Belo Horizonte, Inhotim

In the morning, departure for Belo Horizonte, a modernist city with excellent art museums on the Praça da Liberdade, which the city's active cultural policy has transformed into major cultural spaces. Contemporary art lovers will go to the famousInhotim complex (allow one day for the visit).

Day 10: Back to Rio

Steps: Rio De Janeiro

Departure for Rio. Take a dip in Copacabana (posto 1) or Ipanema (posto 9, for example). Dinner in Leblon, on the famous Dias Ferreira street. Alternative plan: see a soccer match at the Maracanã stadium, ideally a clasico (Fla-Flu, Fla-Vasco...). A breathtaking spectacle in the stands! Last night in Rio
