With its charming villas, vineyards on the northern slopes of the Elbe Valley and its sumptuous panorama, Radebeul is known as the "Nice Saxon". It is very much appreciated by the rich German pensioners and 250 millionaires elected home in this city of 33 000 inhabitants. Located on the wine route of the Elbe Valley, Radebeul is famous for its white wine, which can be tasted in several areas around the city, but also for its astonishing landscapes which have inspired many painters, such as Karl Kröner (1887-1972) or Paul Wilhelm (1886-1965). The author Karl May, author of the famous Winnetou series, also lived there. His house, Villa Shatterhand, is now a museum dedicated to the culture of North American Indians very popular with children. In Meissner Strasse, don't miss the Lutherkirche, a beautiful Lutheran church built in the middle of the th century.
