San Sperate is one of Sardinia's most important agricultural centers. The village enjoys an opportune position on the Campidano plain between two rivers. But it is above all its murals that attract tourists, and its astonishing museum dedicated to the work of the local boy, sculptor Pinuccio Sciola. San Sperate was the first village in Sardinia to exhibit its local artists on the gables of its houses. The large frescoes illustrate local traditions and daily life. The Pinuccio Sciola Museum presents the sculptor's musicolithic works. His work reveals the musicality of stone.
